SYSTRA receives an award for its Brest and Casablanca tramway projects
Every year since 2007, the British Light Rail Transit Association, in association with the “Tramways & Urban Transit” Magazine has hosted the Light Rail Awards.
This year, the Brest and Casablanca tramways on which SYSTRA worked as programme manager were awarded second prize in the «Worldwide light rail project of the year” category behind Saragossa.
This double award highlights SYSTRA’s expertise in light rail and tramway systems. SYSTRA has worked as programme manager on over thirty light rail and tramway projects and commissioned over 400km of track.
A few facts about the projects:
- Brest tramway : The first tramway line in Brest, this 14.3km line comprises 28 stations, 20 trains and 4 park and ride facilities. Inaugurated on 23rd June 2012, it carries 49 500 passengers per day.
Our role: General programme management for the Consortium composed of RICHEZ_ASSOCIES, ATELIER DE L’ÎLE, B3I, TRANSITEC, and IRIS CONSEIL.
- Casablanca tramway : This 31 km line comprises 48 stations and will carry 250 000 passengers per day. It is due to be commissioned on 12th December 2012.
Our role : Full programme management, from production of detailed designs to supervision of engineering work, defining specifications and launching tenders in partnership with our subsidiary, SYSTRA Morocco and the Moroccan design bureau CID (Engineering & Development Consultancy).
