SYSTRA and Mott MacDonald united with Balfour Beatty VINCI for HS2
SYSTRA has set up a joint venture with its design partner Mott MacDonald to support the Balfour Beatty VINCI joint venture bidding for the delivery of the UK’s High Speed 2 (HS2).
SYSTRA has signed a joint-venture with Mott MacDonald, a British global management, engineering and development consultancy. This new cooperation sets up a successful, long-standing relationship between the two companies.
An alliance between Franco-British JVs
SYSTRA’s flair and expertise in high speed rail, combined with Mott MacDonald’s engineering skills, means the JV will be fully equipped to meet all of Balfour Beatty VINCI’s HS2 tender design requirements. Together with its large in-house design knowledge and expertise, Mott MacDonald SYSTRA will also use a local subcontractors on all works undertaken throughout the Midlands, to contribute to the socio-economic development of the region.
SYSTRA and Mott MacDonald have also been appointed on the HS2 project to build frequenting and revenue scenarios. The operational concept of HS2 is nourished by SYSTRA’s knowledge on high-speed integration in existing networks, and the Innovation Direction has supplied a study on the construction of the track which capitalizes on SYSTRA’s experience in the world.
Bids for HS2
Balfour Beatty VINCI has been shortlisted for four civil engineering packages of work for HS2 Phase 1, and also for preparatory works. The successful contractors for the main civil engineering packages are due to be announced later this year with a view to commencing work in 2017 ahead of the start of major civil engineering works on the first phase of the project between London and the West Midlands.
