# SYSTRA wins assignment for line 8 of the Santiago metro in Chile

The project, which runs from the stations of Chile Spain to Los Leones over a
length of 4.3km, includes the following main assignments:

• design and planning of the shafts necessary for the construction and
ventilation of tunnels;
• development of galleries that connect different sections of the tunnels;•
detailed engineering for the excavation and construction of the tunnels;•
complementary Civil Works, including all structures and systems necessary for
the safe and efficient operation of the metro line.

## SYSTRA: a long-term contribution to the Santiago Metro

The Santiago metro system is a historic reference for SYSTRA, which drew up the
first plans as early as 1968 and has been involved in the design of most of the
lines.

## Better connections and reduced journey times

Designed to improve links between the north-east and south-east of Santiago,
line 8, with a length of 19 kilometres, will be entirely underground and will
pass through 6 municipalities. This will bring transport closer to almost 2
million inhabitants, who will see their journey times cut by almost 60%.
