# SYSTRA supports the electrification of the Danish rail network

This is a major step in the conduct of the Danish Electrification Programme for
the country’s entire railway network. The work will be carried out on behalf of
our client Banedanmark, the Danish rail infrastructure manager, and is planned
in such a way that train operations can be maintained throughout the
construction period.

**Energy transition in the spotlight**

The aim of the railway network electrification is to prepare the track for the
electric trains of the future, a major component in the transition to a power
supply that will significantly benefit the environment, while improving the
network’s safety, efficiency and reliability. As part of the preparation of the
Roskilde – Holbæk section, more than 1,000 masts will be set up and overhead
lines will be hung above both tracks.

**SYSTRA: delivering exceptional projects**

SYSTRA, in a consortium, has provided multidisciplinary advisory and expert
services on the electrification of more than 1,300km of line since 2013, in line
with Denmark’s Electrification Programme. The
[inauguration of the first electrified section](https://systragroup.sharepoint.com/sites/mysystra/EN/news/internal-news/Pages/inauguration-du-premier-troncon-du-programme-d-electrification-au-danemark.aspx)
of the railway took place in 2017.

Speaking about SYSTRA’s involvement to date in Denmark’s Electrification
Programme, Project Manager **Antoine Chatelain** commented: “Our electrification

to continue our work on the electrification of Denmark’s railway network and we
