The Morley-Ellenbrook regional train line was brought into service to provide an
alternative for everyday travellers in an area where car use is particularly
widespread and where the population is growing by more than 6.5% each year. The
aim is to halve journey times from the new terminus and make mobility
carbon-free. From day one, more than 40,000 passengers have used the line.

> This is the largest public transport network expansion in Western Australia
> for more than a decade, and we are proud to have contributed to it. Our
> Systems teams were able to demonstrate their expertise in this area to the
> great satisfaction of our customers, and our aim is to become the engineering
> reference for Australia and New Zealand.

### Four years of systems involvement

Since 2021, teams from SYSTRA Australia, then known as Rail Systems Australia,
have been working for the constructor Laing O’Rourke and the Public Transport
Authority of Perth to carry out design studies, supervision of execution and
commissioning of signalling, communication subsystems, operational engineering,
the management system (SCADA) and systems assurance.

With the help of the SYSTRA team over the last four years, we have achieved
exceptional results in the completion and delivery of the project to our end
client. The SYSTRA team can be proud of their work, they have more than
demonstrated and confirmed their reputation as technical experts in complex rail
projects. SYSTRA will now be our preferred choice for future projects.

Carl van Zijil, Rail Sub Systems & Commissioning Manager, Laing O’Rourke

To design the systems, SYSTRA used digital engineering tools (BIM modelling,
commissioning management software, etc.) to refine the layout of the equipment
and provide the Public Transport Authority with an integrated communications
network.
