SYSTRA is strengthening its footprint in India with a new metro in
Visakhapatnam, more commonly known as Vizag. The Andhra Pradesh Metro Rail

international bidding process.

### Asia’s longest bi-level viaduct

Construction is scheduled to begin in October this year. The highlight of the
project will be **the longest bi-level viaduct in Asia**, whose engineering
challenge is to optimise the use of urban space and minimise the impact of
construction site disruption on local residents and demonstrate the authorities’
commitment to using a minimum of urban space while promoting an innovative and
space-saving design.

The first phase of the Visakhapatnam metro will consist of three strategic
lines, before expanding in the second phase to the future Bhogapuram
International Airport.

With this ambitious project, the authorities aim to transform the region into a
key financial and technological hub in India, while modernising urban mobility
and reducing road congestion through a modern transport network.
