# Strategic rail contract for SYSTRA in Brazil

![Strategic rail contract for SYSTRA in Brazil](https://www.systra.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/piqueri_station_little.jpg)

The São Paulo Metro only operates within the city limits of São Paulo.
Therefore, the network is complemented by CPTM, which serves both São Paulo and
the São Paulo Metropolitan Region.

### Moving to more sustainable transport

This suburban railway system is particularly important as it transports
passengers who commute longer distances and who can reach employment
opportunities more quickly and easily. Furthermore, an improvement in the
quality and efficiency of its public urban transport system should lead to an
increase in the number of users and trips served, helping São Paulo move to less
polluting transport modes.

SYSTRA will support our client in the planning, monitoring and control of all
the works on Line 7, with the offer of corrective measures when necessary. We
will also prepare and present a management report related to the progress and
results of actions implemented.

> Line 7, also known as the Ruby line, is the longest on the CPTM and of the
> entire São Paulo metro-rail network. It is also the only CPTM line that has
> stations outside the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo. This is therefore an
> assignment of particular significance for our teams in Brazil, who are
> contributing to the expansion and modernisation of passenger rail services not
> only in São Paulo but across the country.
> **Ettore Bottura**, Design Director in charge of the works supervision aspect

### Increasingly active in the passenger rail sector

In line with Brazil’s initiative to move passenger rail services into the
private sector, SYSTRA recently won a contract for modelling studies for the
granting of public passenger rail services to private operators.

This success is part of a long series of projects carried out by SYSTRA in the
field of passenger rail transport in Brazil. The country is also committed to a
process of privatising the operation of its passenger lines.

Here again, the Group is supporting these projects, notably with the traffic
modelling studies recently won on behalf of the National Bank for Economic and
Social Development, for the granting of public passenger rail services to
private operators.
