Marina KOSE
Head of the Control and Communications Systems Department,
FRANCE

“I would not be a Deputy Head of the Control and Communications Systems Department at SYSTRA today if…”

If I had not seized the opportunity at the time. In fact, when my predecessor left, the job description was opened with a minimum experience requirement of 15 years, whereas I only had 7 and a half years’ experience at the time. But I was convinced that I could be useful in this position and I had lots of ideas about what could be done to improve the performance of the department. I had many interviews to convince myself that I could do it and finally SYSTRA entrusted the job to me!

“What motivates me on a daily basis at SYSTRA is…”

The people I work with. I’m very lucky because I’m surrounded by brilliant, caring people with a strong team spirit. Our department is a real mix! It is made up of people with completely different backgrounds, nationalities and approaches and this contributes to the richness of our daily exchanges.

“I realised how meaningful my job was when…”

I saw the impact that a well-designed and managed project could have on my colleagues. I’m not in the production business: my job is to make my colleagues’ day-to-day lives easier so that they have all the information and tools they need to produce effectively.

“My message to those considering this job”

Dare to do it! Furthermore, to exercise an operational management role, you must above all have a taste for problem solving and a good ability to listen. If this is your case, go for it and don’t be put off by overly demanding job descriptions.
