Urban cable car of Orléans – France
SYSTRA, as part of the VINCI consortium, realizes design studies and coordination of security processes for the urban cable car of Orléans in France.
The Orléans metropolitan region’s planned cable-car transport system will be located in the town of Fleury-les-Aubrais. It will span 350 metres and connect the future Interives district to the plaza opposite the Fleury-les-Aubrais SNCF train station, which are currently separated by railway track.
The “back-and-forth” cable car-system will be operated by automatic controls, requiring neither boarding personnel nor drivers on board the gondolas.
The bid’s successful reception by the Orléans metropolitan government can be attributed to both its architectural quality and its simplicity, with only two cable-stayed pylons, situated on opposite sides of the railway track, providing passage over the railway complex and tram lines.
SYSTRA’s missions
The consortium that won the contract is being led by VINCI and includes Agence DUTHILLEUL, GTM Normandie Centre, SOGEA, POMA and SYSTRA. The Group’s missions will be:
- Design studies, certification of execution studies and monitoring of the construction of the two stations and structures along the line
- Design studies, certification of execution studies and monitoring of the construction of plumbing technical systems and electricity
- Coordination of security processes.
In total, four consortia competed in the call for tenders, which was issued in June 2016. This is only the third tender to be launched in France for this kind of overhead cable-car transport system, after similar ones for Brest and Toulouse.
