Grand Paris metro – Line 15 south

Grand Paris metro – Line 15 south

The new Grand Paris metro network will provide outlying districts with access to the city centre, easing congestion on existing transport networks. SYSTRA was awarded the contract to project manage Section 2 of Line 15 south.

Line 15 will stretch a total of 75 km around Paris and comprise 3 sections: west, east and south. The latter extends 33 km and will be the first to be commissioned. It has been divided into two sub-sections: sub-section West, which runs between Pont-de-Sèvres and Villejuif; and sub-section East, which SYSTRA has been asked to design.

This 21 km underground section comprises 8 stations between Villejuif and Noisy-le-Grand.

It is a most unusual project in terms of size and complexity: the engineering structures (tunnels and associated structures) must be built in a particularly dense urban environment, which requires meticulous coordination with all the parties involved in the project, including the third parties responsible for the associated projects above ground.

Line 15 south is due for commissioning in 2022.

SYSTRA’s Role

The Group’s project management activities on the Eastern sub-section of Line 15 south (structural work, secondary work and technical engineering) cover:

  • Optimisation of the horizontal and vertical alignment,
  • Stations (including the distinguished station at Noisy-Champs) and connections to other services,
  • Tunnels and connecting structures,
  • Associated engineering structures (27).

SYSTRA is also responsible for:

  • producing functional station designs,
  • enhancing and optimising the alignment,
  • delivering studies and designs for the tunnels and engineering structures,
  • compiling noise and vibration analyses.

SYSTRA is involved in every phase of the project from scheme designs through to testing and commissioning.
