EOLE – Westward extension of the RER Line E
In 2011, SYSTRA was appointed to represent the Contracting Authority for the underground section of the preliminary phase of the EOLE (Est Ouest Liaison Express) project, followed by a second assignment assisting the Contracting Authority with the project design phase of the transport systems.
The EOLE project involves extending the RER E westward from the station at Haussmann Saint-Lazare to the station at Mantes-la-Jolie, to help relieve congestion on the network.
SYSTRA worked in three fields:
New underground infrastructure;
3 new stations: at Porte Maillot, at la Défense and at Nanterre la Folie;
Rearranging of the site called “ Les Groues” at Nanterre la Folie;
Connections to the existing railway line;
Redesigning the existing line.
- Operations: deployment of a new CBTC railway signalling system called NexTEO France (New train operating for EOLE);
- Purchase of new rolling stock.
