Turin Metro – Line 1
SYSTRA was appointed to manage the complete civil engineering project for sections 1, 2 and 3 of Turin’s automated metro in Italy.
The purpose of the automated metro project was to reduce pollution, alleviate traffic congestion and make it easier to move around during the 2006 Winter Olympic Games.
The line runs from east to west, linking the city’s main service centres and facilities, such as railway stations and hospitals.
SYSTRA was responsible for designing and supervising the construction of all of the line’s structures: tunnels, stations and associated structures, stabling and workshop, and station installations.
