Shanghai Metro – Line 11 – Disney Extension
SYSTRA produced the designs for the standard viaduct structure for the Line 11 extension of the Shanghai metro.
Inaugurated in 2009, Line 11 was extended in 2013 to stretch a total of 68km. It was extended once again, by a further 7.4km at the end of 2015. The track and two new stations for this second extension were built on a standard “U” shaped viaduct designed by SYSTRA comprised of beams, piers and header joists.
Line 11 is known as the “Disney” Line, as its third station due for commissioning in 2016 will coincide with the inauguration of the new Disney theme park in Shanghai.
SYSTRA Shanghai produced the designs and construction plans for the following structures:
- Single span (25 – 35m) “U” shaped beams
- “U” shaped beams for the stations (central tracks)
- Standard piers and header joists for the standard structures
SYSTRA was also responsible for civil engineering and systems interface.
