In October 2020, the new Vectron electric locomotive made its first trip between Copenhagen and Slagelse. Over the next few years, the number of new locomotives will grow to over 40. SYSTRA has assisted DSB in the purchase of new electric locomotives and new passenger coaches, which will ensure more reliable and environmentally friendly railway traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trains of the Future is the name of DSB’s comprehensive programme for the acquisition of trains, carriages and electric trains. As part of the Train of the Future programme, SYSTRA has been an advisor to DSB throughout the process of purchasing the new electric locomotives that will pull DSB’s double-decker coaches and new wagon sets. The new locomotives will ensure more sustainable operations and eventually phase out the old diesel locomotives.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project for the acquisition of new locomotives has been delivered as a complete range of services for the development of the technical and maintenance specifications and has been prepared in close collaboration with the DSB project organisation. Specifically, SYSTRA’s consultancy assignment includes planning, requirements specification, tendering, procurement, testing and commissioning. The requirements specification for the new locomotives was divided into functional requirements and maintenance requirements.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The choice ended up being Vectron, which is supplied by Siemens and is already operating in several countries in Europe with great stability and more than 100 million kilometres travelled with passengers.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the procurement of the new electric locomotives, SYSTRA is also assisting with other aspects of the Train of the Future. SYSTRA is advising DSB on the procurement of 8 new carriages to be pulled by the Vectron locomotive, each with a capacity of at least 440 passengers. The consultancy assignment also includes planning, requirements specification and the realisation of tenders.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
