With the new fixed conncection line under the Fehmarnbelt, train passengers can look forward to a journey between R\u00f8dby and Puttgarden in just seven minutes and a much stronger rail connection between Scandinavia and the Southern Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Fehmarnbelt tunnel will be a connection between R\u00f8dby and Puttgarden, consisting of an immersed tunnel that includes a two-lane highway in both directions and two electrified railway tracks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tunnel will be 18 km long and located 30-40 meters below the sea surface. This will enable travel from Denmark to Germany in 10 minutes by car and 7 minutes by train.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tunnel will be the longest of its kind in the world, being more than three times longer than the world’s current longest immersed tunnel and five times as long as the \u00d8resund immersed tunnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
