West of Uhre, a 2 km long connecting road has been established to alleviate the daily traffic in Petersminde and Uhrh\u00f8j, and further through Vejle city. The road is located in the heavily hilly terrain west of Vejle and connects Vardevej in the south with the residential area in Uhre to the north.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SYSTRA Denmark is the lead consultant for Vejle Municipality on the construction project, which is now set to alleviate daily traffic in Petersminde and Uhrh\u00f8j, and further through Vejle city. The construction project is one of the largest ever undertaken by the municipality. Special emphasis has been placed on considerations for neighbors, vulnerable road users, and the area’s rare wildlife during the planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The road cuts through a challenging geological and topographical landscape. In consideration of the area’s nature and wildlife, three unique and very aesthetic wildlife crossings are being established for the red- and yellow-listed species in the area. Two of the wildlife crossings will be underpasses, and the last will be an arch bridge over the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the main consultant on the project, SYSTRA Denmark has been responsible for detailed design, EU tendering, specialist supervision, and construction management for the new road section. Besides the road and bike path, SYSTRA has designed embankments, slopes, drainage, basins, a roundabout, a pathway tunnel, three wildlife crossings, a footbridge, bollard lighting along the bike path, as well as lighting installations and noise barriers at the roundabout. 80,000 cubic meters of surplus soil will be incorporated to fit the landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

M.J. Eriksson is the contractor for the project, and the first part of the connecting road west of Uhre is expected to be completed by summer 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
