This is the result of the new shore power facility in Nordhavn \u2013 the largest of its kind in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-greener-cruise-tourism\">Greener cruise tourism<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>As a consultant for By &amp; Havn, SYSTRA has assisted with the design and construction of the power supply, which will help make cruise tourism much greener.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>SYSTRA\u2019s consultancy services included, among other things, project preparation\/idea phase, preliminary design, tender design, execution, and supervision in connection with supply conditions and cable laying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>With the completed project, cruise ships will now be able to connect to shore power, allowing the ship\u2019s generator and\/or engine to be switched off while docked. According to figures from the City of Copenhagen, this reduces pollution at the quay by 90 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The facility is Europe\u2019s largest shore power plant and will be able to provide shore power to five ships simultaneously when fully developed in 2028. At present, two ships can charge at the same time, and the developer, By &amp; Havn, expects this to be sufficient to meet demand. From 2030, it will be an EU requirement for cruise ships to receive shore power, so Copenhagen is already prepared, writes By &amp; Havn in their press release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-16018d1d wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button has-custom-width wp-block-button__width-50\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-dirty-purple-background-color has-background has-text-align-center wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/byoghavn.dk\/h-m-kongen-indviede-europas-stoerste-landstroemsanlaeg-i-koebenhavn\/\">\u2197 His Majesty the King inaugurated Europe\u2019s largest shore power facility in Copenhagen \u2013 By &amp; Havn<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The event took place in Terminal 2 in Nordhavn, which will now be one of the locations where cruise ships can receive shore power.
