The Danish motorways help connect the country across regions. Therefore, it is also important both to maintain them and, at times, to expand the existing network or build new ones.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At SYSTRA, our experts have many years of experience providing consultancy services across all stages of an infrastructure project. We work on everything from the planning and design of new motorways to the widening of existing ones. This also includes preliminary studies and concept design for motorway widening projects, as well as all related services such as environmental assessments, drainage, geotechnics, bridges and structures, interchanges, and climate adaptation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, we work with noise reduction measures for motorway infrastructure, for example in the form of noise barriers and motorway covering solutions. At SYSTRA, we always use BIM processes and 3D CAD modelling to visualise our solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keeping track of road assets<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Keeping track of all the assets located along the many kilometres of motorways that wind through the country can be a major task. Asset management systems enable infrastructure owners to register individual assets and plan their maintenance activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the Danish Road Directorate, SYSTRA develops and implements several GIS-based asset management systems. These systems enable the Danish Road Directorate to register its own traffic management systems, road surface conditions and structures, and to carry out ongoing updates of the collected infrastructure and maintenance data.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Improved quality of life<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

SYSTRA carries out concept studies on the impact, economics and financing of full motorway covering solutions. The aim is to reduce traffic noise and improve the quality of life for people living near the motorways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

A lightweight covering solution also creates opportunities for installations such as solar energy facilities, while a heavier covering structure can support development above it. Both solutions can contribute fully or partly to the financing of the project and create new uses for the areas above the motorways.<\/p>\n<\/div>
