Our expertise in the railway sector, built up over many decades, enables us to continuously improve, adapt, and rethink railway infrastructure, helping the rail sector meet both existing and emerging challenges. SYSTRA works on a wide range of projects within the railway sector, including the design and construction of new lines as well as the expansion and improvement of existing ones. Heavy rainfall, cloudbursts, and storms put pressure on railway facilities just as they do on other types of infrastructure. We help infrastructure owners ensure a railway that is resilient and future-proof in the face of the climate changes we are increasingly experiencing. SYSTRA has extensive experience in designing and modernising railway infrastructure to increase capacity and speed, while also incorporating measures to reduce climate impact and improve resilience to climate change. ## Noise and vibration from railways As with road traffic noise, we develop noise models for existing and proposed railways and prepare, among other things, assessments of the number of noise-affected dwellings. Based on experience from previous projects, we can assess vibration levels, both in terms of human comfort and building-damaging vibrations.
