**Wherever people are, there is a need for a stable power supply for our homes, businesses, road lighting, vehicle charging points, urban light rail systems and more. We primarily provide consultancy on construction projects within utilities and infrastructure, such as electricity transmission and distribution, roads, bridges, railways and light rail systems.**

## Complete solutions

We have a broad team of technical specialists and consultants who can support
every stage of a project from 0.4 to 400 kV, including client advisory services,
project development, design, testing and simulation, surveying, health and
safety coordination, environmental impact assessments _EIA_, utility diversions,
architectural integration of facilities and more. In this way, we ensure that
you as a client receive a complete solution tailored to the surrounding urban
environment and the needs of users.

In addition, we have access to a very strong international network of energy
experts and consultants, whom we involve as needed in the delivery of local
Danish projects.

## transmission system operators

For the Swedish TSO, Svenska kraftnät, SYSTRA has contributed to the
refurbishment of two substations in Korsselbränna and Rätan, which had reached
the end of their technical service life. As part of the project, the first
section of the connected 220 kV overhead lines had to be relocated and rebuilt.
SYSTRA was responsible for the design of the geotechnical works, foundations,
tower positioning, overhead lines and entries to the substations.

## Greener cruise tourism

To reduce diesel emissions from cruise ships moored along the quay in
Copenhagen, By & Havn has established Copenhagen’s first shore power facility
for cruise ships.

With the completed project, cruise ships can now connect to shore power,
allowing the ship’s generators and/or engines to be switched off while in port.
According to figures from the City of Copenhagen, this reduces pollution at the
quay by 90 per cent. The facility is the largest shore power installation in
Europe and, once fully expanded in 2028, will be able to supply shore power to
five ships simultaneously.

As consultant to By & Havn, SYSTRA was responsible for the design and
construction of the power supply system, helping to make cruise tourism
significantly greener.

On 2 June 2025, the shore power facility was inaugurated by His Majesty King
Frederik.

- Project development and regulatory approvals: EIA, environmental assessments,
  permits, public consultations, coordination with utility companies, and
  planning with DSOs/TSOs.
- System design and engineering: substations, converter stations, switchgear,
  cables, and SCADA.
- Shore power for ships and ferries: design of substations and cables 
  _(0.4 kV–132 kV)_, sizing, and protection equipment.
- Design of high-voltage lines, whether cable or overhead line.
- Testing, simulation, and grid studies: load flow, short-circuit analysis,
  harmonic currents, and transient protection.
- Offshore: design of electrical panels for surge protection, cable
  specifications for cooling in wind turbines, and grid connection of wind
  turbines.
- CO2 transport by rail, including route alignment to terminals and storage
  facilities, assessment of logistics constraints on the main network, and
  design of loading tracks and platforms.
- CO2 storage: environmental assessment, required planning approvals, and
  permits.
- Protection of critical infrastructure against hybrid threats in relation to
  the _Network and Information Security 2_ EU Directive _(NIS2)_ and the 
  _Critical Entities Resilience_ EU Directive _(CER)_.
- Within the energy market, we also offer services in client advisory, utility
  diversions, health and safety, environment, sustainability, construction
  management, commissioning, and operations.
