# Bridges

![Bridges](https://www.systra.com/denmark/wp-content/uploads/sites/26/2023/11/vejlefjordbro_hero_2380x1500-scaled.jpg)

**Bridges play a central role in infrastructure projects. From major connection bridges spanning fjords, sounds, and straits to valley bridges and road bridges on land, as well as wildlife crossings, pedestrian bridges, and cycle bridges. In Denmark, bridges have traditionally been built in concrete or steel, but in recent years there has been a growing focus on more sustainable solutions.**

## Bridge consulting based on many years of experience

SYSTRA is one of the country’s leading bridge consultancies. We have many years
of experience in design, 3D modelling, supervision, and bridge consulting, based
on extensive expertise in the planning and design of new bridge construction,
inspections, and maintenance

SYSTRA is one of the country’s leading bridge consultancies. We have many years
of experience in design across all phases, 3D modelling, supervision,
construction management, as well as the operation and maintenance of bridges. We
also have extensive expertise in other types of structures, such as wildlife
crossings, retaining structures, and temporary structures, including formwork
falsework.

Our specialist expertise in the design and maintenance of bridges and
load-bearing structures is applied across a wide range of projects within both
civil works and infrastructure. We are continuously involved in development
projects focusing, among other things, on the use of new types of concrete and
timber structures as alternatives to concrete and steel, while also exploring
sustainable and cost-effective methods for structural monitoring.

Historically, we have completed many bridge projects as part of design-bid-build
contracts in close and constructive collaboration with our clients to identify
the right solution. In recent years, there has been an increase in design-build
projects, where we contribute on behalf of either the client or the design-build
contractor.

## connecting town and nature

With the new bridge over Bredstenvej in Vejle, pedestrians and cyclists have
gained a safe and attractive crossing between the town of Vejle and the future
residential area of Ny Rosborg. The bridge was inaugurated in 2025 and serves as
an important link, making travel simple and secure while also opening up access
to green surroundings.

For Vejle Municipality, SYSTRA was responsible for everything from the initial
design proposal and environmental screening to the completed detailed design.
The result is a bridge that not only connects people and places, but also urban
life and nature.
