# SYSTRA Hong Kong is Proud to be part of the transformation of the Kai Tak District and the Recent Opening of our World-Class Sports Park!

_SYSTRA Hong Kong conducted a comprehensive Pedestrian Movement Study using micro-simulation technology to build Hong Kong’s first dynamic crowd flow model capable of handling 100,000 people and test the effectiveness of various evacuation strategies and crowd control management during major events._

Kai Tak Sports Park, built on the site of the former Kai Tak Airport, officially
opened its doors to the world. Combining competitive sports, cultural events,
leisure, and retail, it is set to redefine the operational standards of
large-scale integrated sports and entertainment complexes in Asia.

SYSTRA Hong Kong, as the Traffic Engineering Consultants, has conducted
Decade-Long Traffic Studies for Multi-Purpose Sports Complex at Kai Tak Area.
These studies include transport forecasting and assessment of the existing and
future local and strategic external and internal vehicular and pedestrian
transport connectivity to support the MPSC development.

To ensure that Kai Tak Sports Park can efficiently manage large crowds of up to
100,000 people during peak crowd dispersal while providing a safe and enjoyable
experience for all visitors, SYSTRA Hong Kong developed traffic management
guidelines, which integrate street-level views with traffic evacuation measures
to align and balance the needs of all stakeholders, and assisted the venue
operator in formulating targeted crowd control plans to prevent congestion.

**SYSTRA Hong Kong provided Traffic Consultancy Services for utilising Micro-Simulation Technology and develop Dynamic Crowd Flow Model**

SYSTRA Hong Kong provided traffic consulting services for the peak crowd
dispersal of the Kai Tak Sports Park, participating in multiple evacuation
drills to collect relevant data for model construction.

By repeatedly simulating scenarios such as the emergency evacuation of 50,000
spectators and peak crowd pressure tests involving 100,000 people, SYSTRA Hong
Kong precisely identified potential pressure points and bottlenecks, analysed
the effectiveness of various evacuation strategies, and provided critical
insights for the meticulous planning of venue traffic and crowd control
measures.

Prior to the final pre-opening stage of the Sports Park Pedestrian Movement
Study, SYSTRA Hong Kong was engaged as Independent Checker Report in 2019 to
review the Crowd Dispersal Report prepared by others on behalf of the client
under Design, Construction and Operation of the Kai Tak Sports Park Contract No.
