SYSTRA Canada is an engineering and consulting firm whose primary focus is to offer transportation solutions, whether for passengers or goods: feasibility studies of building a new railway line, increasing the capacity of the existing infrastructure, privatization of a railway.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2>Context<\/h2>\n<p><p>The ALTO project is a major infrastructure initiative in Canadian history, aimed at developing over 1,000 km of new passenger rail service between major urban centers, including Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2>Missions\/Main Duties<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Oversee and conduct the characterization of physical environments (geology, geomorphology, physiography, surficial deposits) and perform geohazard risk assessments with recommended mitigation measures along rail corridors.<\/li>\n<li>Lead or participate in fluvial-geomorphological and erosion studies, including bank stability and risk management.<\/li>\n<li>Provide technical support and collaborate with the Environment and Engineering teams, multidisciplinary groups, and external partners.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare and review technical and environmental reports, adapting specialized knowledge of Ontario and Quebec geology and geomorphology to projects across Canada.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Profile\/Skills<\/h2>\n<p><p><strong>Education&nbsp;:<\/strong> Master&rsquo;s degree (M.Sc.) or Ph.D. in geomorphology, geology, geosciences, or a related field. Membership in a relevant professional order (e.g., OGQ, PGO) or the ability to obtain it quickly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Years of experience&nbsp;:<\/strong> Minimum of 10 to 15 years of relevant experience, ideally in the rail, infrastructure, or environmental sectors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Technical competencies :<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Demonstrated experience in the characterization of physical environments, geological risk analysis, and conducting fluvial-geomorphological studies.<\/li>\n<li>In-depth knowledge of the geology and geomorphology of Ontario and Quebec.<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency with tools and methods for characterizing surficial deposits, analyzing watercourse mobility, and assessing geological risks.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with major rail projects, team management, and knowledge of Canadian environmental regulations (an asset).<\/li>\n<li>Clear verbal and written communication skills, both in French and in English*<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>*Reasons for requiring bilingualism:<\/strong>&nbsp;You will have the opportunity to work with a varied clientele, including both French- and English-speaking companies.
