This major North American event is organised by the Tunnelling Association of Canada (TAC), and this year&#8217;s theme was \u2018Smart Solutions, Future Growth\u2019. Of particular note this year was a major exhibition showcasing trenchless tunnel excavation technologies, with examples from Canada and around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.systra.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/whatsapp-image-2023-10-02-at-15-35-36-2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-15677946\" style=\"object-fit:cover;width:760px;height:570px\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Edoardo Misano on stage during the TAC 2023 conference<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The TAC 2023 conference was an opportunity for Edoardo Misano, SYSTRA SWS tunnel expert, to demonstrate our skills in conventional tunnel excavation methods under the Seine in Paris. In particular, the case study of lot T3a of line 15 South of the Grand Paris Express, in which SYSTRA SWS was involved, was presented, to show how the state of the soil meant that the shafts and horizontal access galleries had to be redesigned, and then the soil had to be treated appropriately to prevent any instability between the water and the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.systra.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/20180412_tbm_l15-champigny-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-15675224\" style=\"width:760px;height:570px\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Tunnel boring machine, Line 15 Grand Paris Express<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Spotlight on road tunnels in Colombia<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The following week in Medell\u00edn, Colombia, the \u2018ExpoT\u00faneles y Miner\u00eda Subterr\u00e1nea 2023\u2019 was held, focusing on the underground and mining markets.
