To address this Queensland Rail have developed a program of improvements called Cross River Rail.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-challenge\" style=\"text-transform:capitalize\">Challenge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Cross River Rail (CRR) is a new 10.2km rail line from Dutton Park to Bowen Hills, which includes 5.9km&nbsp;of twin tunnels under the Brisbane River and the CBD. The Cross River Rail project unlocks bottlenecks by delivering a second river crossing, allowing trains to run more often and integrate with new roads and bus services to enable a turn-up-and-go public transport system across the whole of Southeast Queensland.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"292\" height=\"172\" src=\"https:\/\/www.systra.com\/australia\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/09\/bamser-cross-river-rail-1.jpg\" alt=\"Project - Cross River Rail\" class=\"wp-image-3578\" style=\"width:292px;height:172px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.systra.com\/australia\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/09\/bamser-cross-river-rail-1.jpg 292w, https:\/\/www.systra.com\/australia\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/09\/bamser-cross-river-rail-1-290x172.jpg 290w, https:\/\/www.systra.com\/australia\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/09\/bamser-cross-river-rail-1-180x106.jpg 180w, https:\/\/www.systra.com\/australia\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/09\/bamser-cross-river-rail-1-153x90.jpg 153w, https:\/\/www.systra.com\/australia\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/09\/bamser-cross-river-rail-1-230x135.jpg 230w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 292px) 100vw, 292px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-approach\" style=\"text-transform:capitalize\">Approach<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-noir-color has-text-color\" style=\"text-transform:capitalize\">Human Factors&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>SYSTRA have been engaged by Hitachi Rail STS to perform and manage the Human Factors (HF) scope for the project including:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Integration of ETCS onboard equipment into existing rolling stock.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Design and implementation of ETCS trackside.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Development and integration of ETCS and Traffic Management System into existing control rooms and control operations.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>SYSTRA employed a comprehensive Human Factors Assurance programme to identify and manage HF issues and derive requirements. We developed reliable and valid testing methods to demonstrate compliance with HF requirements.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Working in collaboration with SYSYRA Business Readiness personnel we ensured HF considerations were captured and addressed within training and procedure development.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-noir-color has-text-color\" style=\"text-transform:capitalize\">Tender Support&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>SYSTRA were engaged by the Pulse Consortium to provide specialist support services to their tender team for the Tunnels &amp; Station Development (TSD) PPP tender. Services provided during the 20-week tender period covered the areas of tunnel civil fit-out and utilities advice. This included:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Methods development, programming, and estimation support.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Constructability inputs into trenchless asset relocations.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Feasibility assessment of options.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, SYSTRA has provided specialist resources to support CPB Contractors BAM Ghella United Group Joint Venture (CBGU JV) including Design Coordinators and a Fire and Life Safety Facilitator.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-noir-color has-text-color\" style=\"text-transform:capitalize\">Tunnelling and Underground Structures<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>SYSTRA were invited to provide specialist engineering services to assist Transport and Main Roads to meet key project procurement milestones in the development of the initial concept design for the project. These included technical deliverables to inform the Project Definition Report (PDR). The PDR identified a preferred 2016 corridor for State Government endorsement and supported the submission by the department of an Initial Advice Statement seeking \u2018significant project\u2019 declaration by the Coordinator-General. SYSTRA\u2019s involvement assisted with achieving the milestone of displaying the Draft EIS Terms of Reference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our services included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Critical underground engineering design reviews;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Detailed technical studies on tunnel general arrangement and underground station construction;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Constructability advice including construction methods, tunnel options analysis, cost planning, and project programming;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identification, analysis, and quantification of project risk and opportunity;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provision of 12D alignment and CAD drafting and development of the digital model for the project;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Technical support of the land and property acquisition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-benefits\" style=\"text-transform:capitalize\">Benefits<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Cross River Rail is a critical public transport infrastructure project which will improve&nbsp;quality of life, help the economy keep growing, generate thousands of jobs, and activate urban development across Southeast Queensland.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The strength of human factors expertise at SYSTRA ensures&nbsp;that the ETCS Level 2 solutions are designed and developed with consideration of end-user needs, capabilities and limitations, providing assurance of system safety and performance.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-outcome\" style=\"text-transform:capitalize\">Outcome<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The project will provide a more reliable transport network with greater capacity to allow more services to run more and it will also provide the capacity to support other rail network growth projects, such as building new rail connections to the Sunshine Coast, Ripley, and Flagstone.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"author":50,"featured_media":1742,"parent":0,"template":"","type-market":[21,13],"project-market":[],"project-service":[],"project-location":[],"type-service":[37,32,35],"type-solution":[],"class_list":["post-483","projects","type-projects","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","type-market-bridges-tunnels","type-market-rail","type-service-design","type-service-operational-integration","type-service-project-management-advisory"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v27.4 (Yoast SEO v27.4) - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-premium-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Cross River Rail - Australia<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"The South East Queensland network is near capacity due to bottleneck created by a single river crossing and just four inner city stations.
