Description Of Project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Santos GLNG Project sources gas from Santos\u2019 gas fields in the Surat and Bowen basins. The gas is transported via a 420-km underground pipeline to a two-train LNG plant with a nameplate capacity of 7.8 million tonnes per annum on Curtis Island, Gladstone. GLNG is a joint venture between Santos and three of the world\u2019s largest LNG companies, PETRONAS, Total, and KOGAS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The marine crossing project comprised of a 4.3km tunnel connecting Curtis Island to the mainland. A Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) was utilised for the excavation which launched in April 2013. The diameter of the tunnel is 3.4m, with conventional segmental lining methodology applied. Once the tunnel is complete, it will be flooded, and the gas carrier pipe strings will be joined and installed in the tunnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SYSTRA were engaged for their expertise, knowledge, and resources to assist in this GLNG Marine Crossing, and provided the Marine Tunnel Crossing Manager representing the client (GLNG) to ensure that the project was executed and delivered in safe, professional, and environmentally safe manner. Our involvement was to ensure that GLNG\u2019s interests were being appropriately managed and that the job was executed to a professional standard. This included managing the contractor with respect to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Project planning;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Project design;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Project execution especially:
    o TBM launch;
    o TBM production;
    o Pipe installation; and
    o Safety, quality and environmental standards;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Contract management and administration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
