What is your job?

I am a Principal Consultant in Project Management currently working in the SECTEC (Security Technology) sector for SYSTRA Australia branch.  With a management and engineering background, I straddle across management advisory and engineering management in my current role within SYSTRA.

I have previously worked in management consultancy across multiple industry sectors for both government and private enterprise on projects such as telecommunications, rail & rolling stock, tunnels & roads and development of engineering products.

Why do you do what you do?

I aim to distill a complex problem or suite of complex problems into more manageable tasks to drive solutions.

This is achieved using advisory services, strategic, commercial and high-level planning through to the application of more detailed project management techniques on the project or program of works at hand.

What are the 3 most important qualities or skills in your role?

Diplomacy, teamwork and resilience. Projects are all about people with different backgrounds, skills and ways of thinking.

Mastering the art of the above is a component of any project that is constantly evolving.  As an individual you don’t always get it right, however, you don’t always get it wrong either, so keep going!
