SYSTRA will provide the transport system design of Seville metro

The consortium which is made up of SACYR, Dragados, CAF, Tuzsa, GEA 21,
Salvador Rus and to which SYSTRA belongs in its quality as provider of the transport system design, has been awarded the concession for the Seville metro in Spain. The operation will be entrusted to Tuzsa and Tussam (the current operator of Seville's bus network).
With a total 700 out 1000, the maximum rating, our consortium left its competitors (FCC et Ferrovial) a long way behind with only 569 and 546 points, respectively. The project is a first in Andalusia, owing to its nature (first metro in the region) and to its arrangements (first public transportation concession). It offers an opportunity for an idea that had been abandoned 18 years ago to come into effect and to place Seville among the leading European regional capital cities.
Nineteen kilometre long, with 23 stations, the line will be serviced by a fleet of 17
air-conditioned trains which will follow each other at 3.36 minute intervals on the central section, and at 7.12 minute intervals on the end sections. It will connect the Pablo Olavide university district east of Seville to the new residential area on the Algarafe hills to the west, beyond the Guadalquivir.
SYSTRA will produce the design work for the transport systems, for the concessionaire's account, to include the rolling stock and the main fixed installations (traction power, signalling, central control office, telecommunications, the toll system, workshops) plus the auxiliary installations (ventilation, mechanical access facilities).
The commissioning of the project is scheduled in three year's time; it will entail an investment of 428 million Euros, 30 percent of which will come from the EIB.
