UKRAINE:
Railway Development Project – Project Implementation Assistance


In November 2000, SYSTRA contracted with EBRD and UZ (Ukrainian Railways) to assist and support the Ukrainian Railways (UZ) in implementing its investment programme and restructuring. SYSTRA is the leader whose team includes SCOTT WILSON (United-Kingdom) and UKRTRANSPROJECT (Ukraine). This project is a continuation of a study which was performed by the same consortium to prepare the UZ investment programme, and will last two years.

The Investment Programme covers track renewal and maintenance, in particular on the main railway line between Kyiv and Lviv.

The contract amounts to 750 000 EUR and the project will last two years.

SYSTRA will provide the following services: project co-ordination, advice on the track renewal and maintenance programme, preparation of tender documents for the procurement of track equipment, business plan, Environmental Action Plan.

This is the third EBRD-funded project won by SYSTRA after the Assistance to the MAV (Hungarian Railways) for the modernisation of suburban cars and Assistance to EBRD in assessing the justification for single tendering procedures regarding the procurement of metro cars for Prague network.
