The Chinese Ministry of Railways has awarded the the review of the design and the supervision of works of the future Beijing-Tianjin rail link to a consortium of CARS (Chinese Academy of Railways) and SYSTRA. The Project was officially launched on July 1st, 2005.
This should be the first Very High Speed Line to come in operation in China. This project is designed for speeds of up to 300 kph and should come into operation in time for the Olympic Games in August 2008. The line, which is 117 km long, includes 100 km of bridges and viaducts and 17 km of backfilling.
SYSTRA is in charge of the project management, of the review of the design carried out by Chinese engineering consultants, of the supervision of works, of testing and commissioning, and of temporary operation. A 10 people team is at work in Beijing, whereas specific HSR studies are being carried out in France.
