Sustainable management

SUSTAINABLE DESIGN IN THE HEART OF SYSTRA’S PROJECTS

SYSTRA’s general policy includes the 3 pillars of sustainable development, which are also set out in the company’s sustainable development charter. However, these principles are chiefly applied through the business management processes, using tools which have been specifically developed for use in urban and rail transport design studies.

Financial performance

In addition to the financial results presented in the annual report, the Board of Directors relies on a balanced scorecard consisting of strategic performance indicators which track both internal efficiency and the opinions of our stakeholders. The scorecard shows an increase in the perceived level of our performance from 85% in 2010 to 97% in 2011. (Source: Client surveys)

Social responsibility and community policy

Over and above the statutory requirements for human resource management, the Board of Directors acts to promote issues such as equality between men and women, cultural diversity and measures to support disabled people (both in terms of recruitment and in our purchasing policy).

Environmental awareness

Since 2009, SYSTRA has been engaged in a process of continuous improvement in our environmental performance leading to ISO 14001 certification.

Evidence of this policy can also be seen in the choice to move our headquarters to new premises (at rue Henri Farman in the 15th arrondissement of Paris) in a low energy consumption building (BBC) conforming to High Quality Environmental standards (HQE).

Every year, we add new measures to our environmental programme:

  • Including environmental issues in the guidelines for managing new business contracts,
  • Monitoring CO2 emissions for SYSTRA staff travel,
  • Raising awareness about videoconferencing as a way to reduce travel whenever possible,
  • A 30% reduction in paper consumption following a switch to centralised printing and photocopying.
