Turnover and Net Profits on the Increase for Groupe SYSTRA

For 2006, Groupe SYSTRA registered a net income attributable to the group of Euros 7 millions and a turnover of 205.4 millions, a 20.4 per cent increase on 2005. The group has taken orders corresponding to over one year of activity.

This excellent performance is the result of the efforts throughout the group : SYSTRA S.A. exceeds its objectives with a turnover of Euros 113.8 millions and improves its profitability. Similarly, all its subsidiaries – MVA Consultancy (GB), MVA Hong Kong and Asia (Asia), SYSTRA Consulting (Unites States of America), Canarail (Canada) and SOTEC INGENIERIE (France) all register favourable results.

The group’s workforce is in the region of 1300.

For SYSTRA S.A., its performance is first and foremost consequence of the spectacular development of its activity in the Middle-East. The supervision of the construction of the automatic metro in Dubai, the world’s largest metro project, and of the North-South railway line in Saudi Arabia are continuing. However, SYSTRA is also strengthening its position throughout the zone, in particular with further mass transportation projects in Dubai, Bahrain and Iran. Morocco and Algeria also offer extensive opportunities for development.

France too is a growth area. SYSTRA continues working on major contracts, whether in project management or assistance to owner, for metro and tramway projects (in particular in Toulouse and Marseille) some of which were commissioned in 2006 (Mulhouse, Saint-Etienne and Clermont-Ferrand). Where railways are concerned, SYSTRA continues to provide services to RFF and the regional councils.

The activity level remains stable in Europe. The project for a high speed line between London and the Channel Tunnel (CTRL project) - Section 2 is to be commissioned in November 2007 – still generates a sustained volume of services for SYSTRA. In addition, SYSTRA continues its development in the CEECs, particularly in Poland and Romania.

In the Asia-Pacific zone, a number of large scale projects have come to fruition : concessions for automatic metros in Korea, in Kimhae and Uijongbu, along with the design of two metro lines in Lahore in Pakistan. In India, SYSTRA is successfully strengthening its position and in late 2006, it won the engineering contract for the metro project in Mumbai (Bombay).

Where the group is concerned, MVA Consultancy Ltd recorded its best year ever in terms of turnover and income. The company is making a name for itself among the leading planning consultancies and is continuing to develop in Dubai and in Ireland.

CANARAIL registered a marked growth during the year with a 70 per cent increase in turnover on 2005. This achievement is mainly due to the project for the North-South railway line in Saudi Arabia and to the orders from the ore industry, particularly in Africa.

SYSTRA Consulting, the US subsidiary, shows excellent profits before tax. The collaboration with SYSTRA S.A is developing, more particularly on the project for a high speed line in California.
