Rouen Guided Bus (France)

The east-west axis of the Rouen transport network (TEOR) uses articulated vehicles equipped with an optical guidance system. This is the first commercial application of the system developed by MATRA (now Siemens), which aligns the bus exactly with the edge of the platform so that the driver is free to concentrate on the speed of the bus and the passengers waiting on the platform.

SYSTRA has taken part in studies of the east-west lines since 1996. In 1998, as head of the project management consortium for the first phase, SYSTRA was responsible for the coordination of design studies and work, defining the layout and infrastructure of the platforms, the guidance interface and prototype rolling stock. SYSTRA also provided assistance for the launch, the preparation of regulatory documents and the restructuring of the public transport network.

Since 2003, SYSTRA has provided assistance to the owner for completion of phase 1.
