As assistants to project managers, planners use their technical know-how and work with specialists in each field to make forecasts and ensure that they are implemented, so that deadlines and cost targets can be met.
They draw up schedules for each activity, as well as project programmes and timetables.
Their knowledge of planning software enables them to draw up schedules for each activity, along with detailed timetables and to assign the necessary resources.
They measure progress and provide the necessary information to enable project managers to carry out reporting. They are responsible for all planning activities.
Thibaut, planner
"I joined SYSTRA as a rail track technician specialising in financial management for the project. Having worked on several projects, I took up SYSTRA’s offer to study for the AFITEP certificate in project management.
Planning is a transverse activity which gives you an overview of the project. The work involves communication, both during the document preparation phase (contact with the various parties) and during the follow-up and analysis phase.
Keeping informed about new technology is also an important aspect of my work. It helps the project to run smoothly, and it helps me to constantly come up with new ideas."
