Catenary engineers are involved in electrification projects and identifying the most appropriate technology for the operating conditions and context (speed, traffic, tunnel etc.). Their work consists of designing catenary systems along with supervising and approving the outcome of the work.
Christian, catenary expert
"With SYSTRA I’ve worked on many projects, such as the project management of the new Eurostar station at London Saint-Pancras. I was lucky enough to be sent to London for two years, working on a joint venture on the electrification of section 2 of the project for the high-speed line in England.
SYSTRA offers everyone the chance to do very different jobs. The choice of roles runs from the design (feasibility)of one or more system, to the delivery to the client.
To get ahead, there are several things a catenary expert can do. The first is to make the effort to extend and broaden his technical expertise. The second is to take on different responsibilities by accepting a post as project manager.
To be successful at SYSTRA, I’d say you have to be flexible, mobile, open-minded and honest with the people you deal with. The international aspect is everything : at SYSTRA you have to have your suitcase packed and ready !"
