A consortium consisting of SYSTRA, ARCADIS and ILEX has been appointed by the owners, SYTRAL, the Joint Public Transport Authority for the Rhone and Greater Lyon, to build an extension to the T2 tramway line. Once completed, the line will extend as far as Eurexpo, the Lyon exhibition centre.
Entreprise du Métro d’Alger (Algiers Metro Company - EMA) has awarded the SYSTRA /RATP Development consortium the contract to provide assistance with the follow-up of design studies, installation and fitting out of fixed equipment for all systems on line 1 phase 1 of the Algiers metro. This includes stations, rolling stock and workshops.
On 1 February 2006, following a national and international call for tenders, Entreprise du Métro d’Alger (EMA) awarded the contract to manage construction of the priority section of the Eastern line of the Algiers tramway to a consortium comprising SYSTRA and RATP-Développement.
The Turin automatic metro, based on the VAL system, will be officially inaugurated on 4 February, just a few days before the start of the 2006 Winter Olympic Games.
H.E Dr. Ibrahim Abdulaziz Al Assaf, the Minister of Finance and National Economy, Head of PIF Board of Directors signed a supervision agreement for the execution of the North–South Railway project with Louis Berger Group Inc. of America, Systra, Canarail and Saudi Consolidated Engineering Co., (Khatib & Alami) of Saudi Arabia.
On the basis of a prefeasibility study carried out by SYSTRA in 2004 to upgrade and refurbish the Tallinn urban transport network, the City of Tallinn has launched a preliminary study for the first phase of a new tramway line, from Ussimaë – Lasnamaë to city centre, with an extension to the capital’s airport.
On Friday 22 September 2006, in Warsaw, SYSTRA signed a contract worth 7.9 million euros with the Polish National Railways PKP for the upgrading of a 58km section of the E59 corridor between Wroclaw and Rawicz. The route, which runs north-south, providing access to the Baltic, is considered high priority.
SYSTRA, heading a consortium consisting of its subsidiary SYSTRA Morocco and the Moroccan Engineering consultants, CID, Team Maroc and ATPE, has just been awarded a contract by The ONCF (Moroccan National Railways Office) to carry out the feasibility studies, the basic design and detailed design, the preparation of tender documents and the construction studies (as an option) for the creation of a high-speed line between Settat and Marrakech.
In connection with the EuroMed Transport project financed by the European Union, the representatives of the Mediterranean countries, beneficiaries of the project : Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, Malta and Cyprus, met in Paris from 11 to 15 September 2006 and in London the following week, for a railway conference organised by EuroMed Transport, under the aegis of representatives of the European Commission.
At the start of 2005, SYSTRA launched a project to upgrade the signalling on the east-west corridor of the Latvian railway network. The contract was signed with Latvian Railways (LDZ) in November 2003, but the process of selecting the contractors to carry out the work took longer than planned.

The Chinese Ministry of Railways has awarded the the review of the design and the supervision of work on the future Beijing-Tianjin rail link to a consortium comprising CARS (Chinese Academy of Railways) and SYSTRA. The Project was officially launched on July 1, 2005.
After completion of the preliminary studies (30% design), the preparation and the follow-up of the calls for tender for the construction of the Dubai Metro, SYSTRA, in a joint venture with Parsons (SYSTRA : 55% - Parsons : 45 %), has now been awarded the contract for inspection of the civil engineering and systems studies, for project management, supervision of the works tests and follow up of the guarantee.
Réseau Ferré de France (RFF), the owner and manager of the French rail network, plans to replace the existing analog radiocommunications network with a new digital network which offers compatibility with other European networks and uses the GSM-R standard.
Following an initial contract won in 2004 to carry out a feasibility study for a pilot tramway line in the Vietnamese capital, in April 2005 SYSTRA was selected by the People’s Committee of Hanoi and the French authorities to conduct further investigations into certain aspects of the 2004 study. The aim of this work is to enable the launch of a project which can be implemented by 2010, the date of the 1000th anniversary of the founding of Hanoi city.
For 2004, the SYSTRA group registered a net result of Euros 3.5 millions, up 438 per cent in 2003, with a turnover of Euros 177.4 millions.
As part of the tender organised by the Lyon-Turin Rail Authority (Lyon-Turin Ferroviaire) relating to the technical studies for the Lyon-Turin project, lot B3 has been awarded to a consortium headed by SNCF and composed of SYSTRA, Italfer and Tractebel.
The Ministry of Communications and Transport for Mexico (SCT) has appointed SYSTRA to assist it in drawing up the terms of tender for the turnkey project to build a high-speed line between Mexico City and Guadalajara. The tender is due to be launched in mid 2005.
SYSTRA, at the head of a consortium which also includes Scott Wilson, has signed a contract on March 15, 2005, funded by the EBRD and aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity of Ukraine Railways (UZ).
Following a call for tenders, and subject to the approval of the administrative documents, the consortium which is led by SYSTRA and also includes Technital, Lombardi Italy, Ineco and le cabinet d’architecture Dominique Perrault, was awarded the preliminary study for the first phase of Palermo automatic metro.
The Dubailand project caps several tourist and leisure projects (ski runs, theme parks, sports centres, hotels) to be built in a currently undeveloped 200 sq. km desert area in Dubai.

For 2006, Groupe SYSTRA registered a net income attributable to the group of Euros 7 millions and a turnover of 205.4 millions, a 20.4 per cent increase on 2005. The group has taken orders corresponding to over one year of activity.
This excellent performance is the result of the efforts throughout the group : SYSTRA S.A. exceeds its objectives with a turnover of Euros 113.8 millions and improves its profitability. Similarly, all its subsidiaries – MVA Consultancy (GB), MVA Hong Kong and Asia (Asia), SYSTRA Consulting (Unites States of America), Canarail (Canada) and SOTEC INGENIERIE (France) all register favourable results.
The group’s workforce is in the region of 1300.
9 September 2009 (999) saw the official inauguration of the Red Line on the Dubai Metro, with the commercial commissioning, from 10 September, of 10 key stations out of the 29 the line will eventually have. The other stations are to be opened to the public gradually over the following weeks.
Line 4 of the Santiago Chile LRT was successfully inaugurated on 30th November 2005, in the presence of the Chilean President, Ricardo Lagos, the Minister of Public works, Rodrigo Estévez, and other officials.
On 20th October 2005, after calls for tender in two lots, STIF awarded SYSTRA the contract for construction of lot 1.

The Bulgarian Ministry of Transport awarded the contract for the reconstruction and electrification of the Plovdiv - Svilengrad rail link on the border between Greece and Turkey to a consortium composed of SYSTRA, Typsa, Trademco, Louis Berger and Rubicon Engineering.

Two contracts for the construction of the Hanoi metro were signed on 22 November between SYSTRA and Hanoi Metropolitan Rail Transport Project Board (HRB – the unit of the Hanoi City Authority in charge of managing the project). The signing ceremony took place in the presence of the French Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, Hervé Novelli.
SYSTRA was chosen through an international call for tenders by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) to carry out the project management for the Bangalore metro, within a consortium led by RITES (India). The contract agreement was signed on June 21st 2007.
The Amazon Raid is the only sporting raid exclusive to women. In its seventh year, it is taking place on the island of Réunion. 75 teams, each comprising three women, will spend six days competing in numerous tests of physical endurance : trekking on Piton de la Fournaise (33km), mountain biking (30km), ride & run, archery, swimming, aqua-hiking, canyoning, fitness trail and orienteering.

September 17th saw the official launch of a feasibility study for an international rail network linking six countries in the Persian Gulf, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia.
The Bulgarian Ministry of Transport has chosen a consortium headed by SYSTRA and consisting of Getinsa (Spain), Sudop (Czech Republic), El Trans (Bulgaria), and Vector Bul (Bulgaria) to provide technical assistance for the project to upgrade the line between Mezdra and Gorna Oryahovitsa.
On May 31st, 2007 SYSTRA signed a contract worth around 3 million euros with the Highways Department of the City of Warsaw. The contract is to draw up designs for the Krasiñski Bridge, from basic design to preparations for the call for tenders.
The Bahrain Ministry of Works and Housing has appointed SYSTRA , along with MVA Consultancy, to carry out a strategic study aimed at improving the Kingdom’s public transport network.
On October 11, the California High Speed Rail Authority (CAHSRA) chose the consortium headed by Parsons Brinkerhoff (PB) as program management team. PB’s partners in the consortium include SYSTRA (20%) and several other local companies. Together they will oversee the whole project for the high-speed line, from design to commissioning. SYSTRA S.A. will provide its American subsidiary, SYSTRA Consulting, with the full range of its expertise in the field of high-speed rail.

On 9 May 2006, SYSTRA was awarded the contract to prepare a feasibility study into a high-speed rail link from Kiev to Lviv and from Kiev to Odessa in Ukraine using tilting train technology. Funding for the study is being provided by Natexis Banques Populaires, acting on behalf of the French government (Ministry of the Economy, Finance and Industry- DGTPE), as part of the Fund for Research and Aid to the Private Sector (FASEP).
SYSTRA loaned two experts to BAA, the Owner of the new Terminal 5 of London Heathrow Airport. They are respectively in charge of operation integration and of the definition of the commissioning processes of the Piccadilly Line and Heathrow Express extensions.
SYSTRA is once again providing assistance to the Santiago Metro in Chile for a review of design, and for the construction and commissioning of new extensions.

Consolidated turnover rose by more than 10% from 205.4 million euros in 2006 to 226.9 million euros in 2007.
The Group recorded a net profit of 12.7 million euros.
In a press conference held on April 29, the Dubai Roads & Transport Authority announced the implementation of the Al Safooh Tram project, stretching 14 km along Al Safooh Road and linking Madinat Jumeirah with Dubai Marina. SYSTRA will act as RTA Consultant of the Project.

Following a call for tenders, the contract for the supervision of construction of the Sofia metro has been awarded to SYSTRA, in partnership with two Bulgarian engineering firms specialising in metro projects : Infra Project and Metro Consult.
The jury for the National Engineering Awards, chaired by Claude Martinand, Vice-Chairman of the Conseil Général des Ponts et Chaussées, met on 25 June and awarded First Prize to Daniel Dutoit for the overall designs and management of the Dubai metro project.
On 23 July 2008, in Warsaw, Philippe Citroën, managing director of SYSTRA, signed a contract with the Polish rail network operator, PKP PLK, for the upgrade design of the Rawicz-Poznan line.

On 2 October 2008, Daniel Dutoit officially received First Prize in the National Engineering Awards, for the overall design and management of the Dubai metro project, during the 7th Engineering Congress, organised by Syntec Ingénierie and taking place at the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie at la Villette in Paris.
SYSTRA, as part of a joint venture with the Spanish firm, Getinsa, and Yüksel Project from Turkey has been appointed by TCDD, Turkish Railways, to supervise works to modernise two railway lines in the south of the country with a combined length of 426km, the Bogazköprü–Yenice and Mersin–Toprakkale lines. The programme is being financed with a loan from the World Bank.
The group, led by SYSTRA in association with its Canadian subsidiary Canarail and a local partner, is now completing the first part of its research into the feasibility of a new rail line connecting the six member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia). The study, which began on 1 September 2007, will have lasted for more than a year.
SYSTRA has been selected, together with Parsons Brinckenhoff, by Maytas Metro Limited (MML) to carry out the engineering design and project-management of the Hyderabad metro project. The agreement was signed on 22 October 2008.
On 1st April 2009 Cross London Rail Link issued a statement awarding the general management of the Crossrail project (design and construction works) to the Bechtel-Halcrow-SYSTRA consortium.
The Bucharest Metro operator, METROREX SA, has chosen the METROUL (lead partner) / SYSTRA Consortium to supervise works on the construction of a fifth metro line for the Bucharest metro. The contract, worth 36.7m RON (9.6m Euros), was signed on 24 April 2009.
