This project entailed the management of the work on the construction of 4.2 km of tunnel and 4 underground stations for the Hamma-Haï-El-Badr section of line 1 of the Algiers Metro, built using traditional tunneling methods. Commencing in 2005, the contract (with RATP Development) was to provide assistance to the Algiers Metro Company in overseeing the design, construction and installation of all fixed equipment systems for the whole of line 1 phase 1, including stations, rolling stock and maintenance facilities.
Between 2004 and 2006, a detailed technical study was carried out of the planned north-south rail line, linking the bauxite and phosphate mines to the Persian Gulf coast. From the end of 2005, as part of a consortium, Systra supervised the construction of this 2400km line.
The population of the city of Dubaï is due to grow from 1 to 4 million inhabitants over the next fifteen years. The Dubai authorities were quick to realise the need to increase the city’s transport network capacity.

The Al Sufouh Tram Project is part and parcel of a master plan to provide mass transit systems up to 2020, covering metro, tram, bus, and marine lines. The path of Al Sufouh Tram interchanges with the Red Line of Dubai and the monorail of The Palm Jumeirah.

The priority section of the Eastern line of the Algiers tramway will be 16.3 km long and have 30 stops. It is due to open in 2009-2010 and, together with line 1 of the metro, will be a key component of the Algiers transport network. The expected volume of passenger traffics is 150,000 passengers a day.
SYSTRA has been at the head of the project management consortium since 2006, and is in charge of approving pre-project detailed designs, providing assistance with the preparation of tenders for works and equipment, checking the compliance of construction schedules, and supervising works and equipment.
The creation of Casa Transports, owner and manager of the first tramway line in Casablanca, clearly demonstrates the commitment of the Moroccan authorities to public transport.
